William E. Fischer, CPAWilliam E. Fischer, CPA, Partner "One of our clients had a succession plan in place that was going to bankrupt the company. They struggled to find alternatives, so we tailored a comprehensive plan, including an S-Corp employee stock ownership plan (ESOP), along with deferred compensation arrangements. We also structured the plan to provide a comfort level to both their bank and surety. The client spent the same amount of money paying themselves their buyout and deferred compensation as they would have paid to the government (in taxes) and their employees (profit sharing) had they ignored the issue. The company now has the distinct advantage of operating in a tax-free environment, which is the equivalent of taking 40% of their overhead (taxes) and eliminating it." William E.
