December Medicaid Deadline

The Office of the Medicaid Inspector General (OMIG) implemented a policy stating that all providers currently enrolled need to certify annually in December.  The certification verifies if the provider is complying with compliance regulations.  The certification will establish if the provider is meeting the requirements of their compliance programs. 

Department of Labor

Effective October 26th, the New York State Department of Labor requires an employer hiring any new employees to provide to them, in writing, their regular rate of pay as well as their overtime rate. 

Hospital Property Sold

St. John Hospital, sitting on 2 acres in Elmhurst along with Mary Immaculate, sitting on 4 acres, sold for $2.6 million.  They were sold 50% higher than the opening bid. 

Possible Fraud Notice by AMA

The AMA has started informing physicians that a file containing identifying information for every physician in the country contracted with all the Blue's has been stolen.  They do not know if there has been any breach in data.  The file contained name, address, tax identification and NPI for 850,000 physicians.  About 20% of these files contained physicians' social security numbers.  BCBS is offering credit monitoring services to those physicians who had their social security number in their files.  You will be notified from BCBS in writing if your file contained your social security number.  Please take advantage of their offer.  In the meantime, if you do not receive notification but suspect fraudulent activities have occurred, please notify your local BCBS carrier.
