Stuart Becker is the founder and president of Becker LLC and Becker Tax Controversy Group LLC, and a consultant to Grassi & Co., both based in Manhattan. He has more than 40 years of experience as a tax and financial planning specialist operating at the highest level within the industry.
Mr. Becker provides advisory and consulting services to high net worth individuals and family groups as well as closely held businesses, corporations, and entrepreneurs. The sectors in which he specializes include family-owned businesses, real estate, publishing, internet, professional services, hospitality, and the oil and gas industry.
Mr. Becker also has decades of experience in successfully dealing with complex tax controversy matters at both the federal and state levels. He also possesses in-depth knowledge of the laws, policies and procedures of the IRS, State and local jurisdictions and has a deep understanding of the nuances and ramifications of the most arcane tax regulations, enabling him to develop the best strategies to resolve your tax controversies.
He represents individuals, C corporations, subchapter S corporations and other flow-through entities, and publicly held companies and is experienced in representing U.S. taxpayers with international operations as well as foreign taxpayers with U.S. operations.
Mr. Becker is well known in both the New York and Florida business communities, where he is frequently sought out by clients for his expertise. He is noted for his creative solutions to complex tax matters, as well as advising clients on how they can enhance and preserve wealth. For the past two decades he has been recognized as one of the East Coast’s most renowned experts on tax controversy.
A frequent commentator on tax matters, Mr. Becker has appeared on “Good Morning America” and “The Wall Street Journal Report” and hosted a tax tips series on CBS Radio. He has been quoted in numerous books and magazines.
Mr. Becker is an active proponent of education and a supporter of numerous charitable organizations. He has held various leadership positions with the New York University Stern School of Business, including serving as President of the Alumni Association and member of the Dean’s Executive Roundtable. He was treasurer of the Finance Club of New York University and the NYU Alumni Council.  He was also an Adjunct Professor of Taxation at the New York University Graduate School of Business Administration.
He is licensed to practice public accounting and was awarded the Gold Medal for achieving the highest score in the year he took the New York State CPA exam.
