If your organization missed either deadline for submitting Provider Relief Fund (PRF) reports in Reporting Period 1 or Period 2, you may be eligible to request additional time to get in compliance.
Through this Friday, April 22, at 11:59 p.m., providers that missed the Period 1 reporting deadline (September 30, 2021) due to extenuating circumstances can submit a Late Report Request through the HRSA Provider Relief Bureau. Upon approval by HRSA, the provider will have 10 days to submit the completed report without penalty.
Qualifying extenuating circumstances include:
- Severe illness or death of a provider or key staff member
- Impact by a natural disaster in close proximity to the reporting deadline
- Incorrect email or address on file with HRSA that prevented receipt of reporting communications
- Failure to click submit on a completed form that was already in the PRF portal
- Internal miscommunication on who was authorized and expected to submit the report
- Subsidiary failed to report Targeted Distribution(s) but parent entity completed all General Distribution payment reports
When submitting the request, the provider must prepare and attest to a “clear and concise explanation” of the applicable extenuating circumstance(s).
HRSA is not yet accepting requests for late reporting of Period 2 funds (originally due on March 31, 2022), but more details will be announced in the coming weeks.

Submitting a late report request does not guarantee HRSA approval, so it is important to ensure your submission is accurate and compelling. Providers who are not approved will remain in non-compliance and will be required to return all unreported funds within that period.
