Scott Cohen, CPA, MBA Partner

Scott Cohen is a Partner at Grassi and oversees quality control in the firm’s SEC & Capital Markets Practice. With more than 20 years of experience, Scott specializes in audit readiness, SEC reporting and PCAOB audits for public companies, as well as private companies pursuing an initial public offering (IPO).

Scott has extensive experience advising on complex business transactions, including mergers and acquisitions, due diligence, transaction structuring, business valuation, joint ventures and debt offerings. His diverse background includes roles in both private and public accounting.

Prior to joining Grassi, Scott served as a Chief Financial Officer for a public company, where he was responsible for SEC financial reporting, strategic planning and process improvements. He has also served as a CFO Advisory Consultant to SEC registrants, private equity portfolio companies and private companies. In this role, Scott advised clients on capital markets transactions, including carveouts, joint ventures and debt and equity capital raising transactions.

Scott has also held leadership roles on the Capital Markets teams of Big 4 and national accounting firms. He was instrumental in helping his public company clients maintain SEC reporting compliance, navigate the complexities of M&A transactions, pursue joint venture opportunities and achieve their growth goals.

Scott completed his Bachelor’s degree in Economics from the University of Pennsylvania and Master’s degree in Business Administration from New York University, with a focus on Finance and Financial Instruments & Markets. He is a New York Certified Public Accountant (CPA).
